ICS fulfills its mission in Brown County, Wisconsin by serving over 3200 households with rental assistance and 3000 households with energy assistance each year. Among these households, approximately 50% of assistance recipients are children, and 40% are elderly or disabled.
The assistance offered through ICS' programs serves the purpose of making life affordable when wages cannot. The gap between miniumum wage households and Fair Market Rent is acheived when ICS and other local organizations provide services to neighboring families.
A unique aspect of ICS, however, is the drive to encourage self-sufficiency among participating families. Beginning in 2005, ICS was awarded two Family Self-Sufficiency Coordinator grants by HUD to grow this program. Just a year earlier, the Homeownership program received national recogntion for having the most home purchases in Wisconsin. These two programs work in tandem to allow families to make their goals, and self-sufficiency, a reality.
With over 60 staff and a seven-member Board of Directors, ICS is proud to bring its mission statement to fruition in Brown County. To volunteer with one of our programs, call 432-3044, or visit our gift-giving site to make a monetary contribution.
